Foreign Scholarship for Minorities candidate, Maharashtra.
The Foreign Scholarship for Minorities scheme by the Minority Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra aims to provide financial assistance, i.e., foreign scholarships, to students belonging to six notified minority communities: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis who want to study abroad and pursue their dream of Higher Education in the top universities of the world.
SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR THE MINORITIES OF THE MAHARASHTRA STATE FOR POST GRADUATE (MASTERS) AND PhD (DOCTORATE) STUDIES IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES
The initiative of foreign scholarships reflects the government’s commitment to empowering minority communities through quality education and exposure to global academic standards. Under this scheme, eligible minority students are granted scholarships to pursue various levels of education, such as postgraduate and doctoral studies, in reputed foreign universities and institutions.
The foreign scholarship for Minorities in Maharashtra covers
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Travel expenses,
- Health Insurance
- Other related costs.
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Scholarship Maharashtra for Minority Community 2024-25
- Applicant must be a resident of Karnataka state and must have a domicile certificate of the state of Maharashtra.
- The candidate must belong to one of six notified minority communities: Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, or Parsi.
- A student can avail of benefits from the scheme only once. Except in case a beneficiary student doing a Master’s is then getting an opportunity to do PhD then the student will be eligible for further scholarship under this scheme. This will be provided for two years only, and further expenses have to be borne by the students.
- A maximum of two children from one family will be able to benefit from the scholarship scheme. Additional children will not be eligible and the parents have to provide affidavit to that effect.
- The annual family income from all the sources should not exceed Rs 8 lakhs.
- It will be compulsory for the student staying abroad to have a personal health insurance policy. This will be as per the criteria for minimum requirements of the university and will be permissible.
- The age of the candidate should not be more than 38 years.
- The course of study must be a full-time master’s program at an overseas university, and the university must be ranked among the top 200 universities QS ( Quacquarelli Symonds) ranking.
- The marks scored in the last degree should be at least 60% or its equivalent grade.
Required Documents for Foreign Scholarship Maharashtra.
Applicants are required to keep the following documents when applying for National Overseas Scholarships for minority students.
- Adhar Card.
- Passport Size Photograph.
- Verification form by the Institute.
- Minority community certificate.
- Proof of bank account of the candidate.
- Income certificate/form 16.
- Domicile certificate.
The scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s accounts, taking into account the approved expenses incurred by the eligible students in the current year. Students who have not yet deposited the tuition fee with the institute will have the amount directly credited to their account.
