Shoes Vocabulary

SNEAKERS – Casual shoes worn for sports or exercise

He wore his sneakers to the gym.

BOOTS – A type of footwear that covers the foot and ankle, and sometimes part of the calf  

She wore warm boots to the mountain hike.

LOAFERS –Slip-on shoes, usually made of leather or suede, often worn for casual or business attire  

He bought new loafers for work.

FLIP-FLOPS – Casual sandals with a Y-shaped strap that goes between the toes

She wore flip-flops on the beach.

SANDALS – Open-toe shoes with straps, worn in warm weather

He wore sandals to stay cool on the hot day.

HIGH HEELS – Footwear with a raised heel, usually worn by women for formal occasions

She wore high heels to the party.

FLATS – Shoes with a flat sole, typically worn for comfort or casual wear

She prefers wearing flats to work instead of high heels.

OXFORDS – Formal shoes with laces, usually made of leather

He wore oxfords to the wedding.

MOCCASINS – Soft, slip-on shoes made from leather or fabric, often with no heel

She wore comfortable moccasins around the house.

CLOGS – Footwear made from wood or other solid material, with an open back

WEDGES – Shoes with a heel that runs the length of the shoe, typically worn by women

ALLET FLATS – Flat shoes that resemble ballet slippers, typically worn by women

WORK BOOTS – Sturdy boots designed for manual work, often with a thick sole He wore work boots for the construction job.

SLIPPERS – Comfortable footwear worn indoors

CHELSEA BOOTS – A type of ankle-high boot with elastic side panels
